A new group supporting parents/carers of children and young people experiencing difficulties with their mental/emotional health is launching next week.

The Mental Health Parent and Carer Peer Support Group is being billed as “a safe place for those parents and carers who are supporting a child or young person struggling with emotional or mental health to be heard, supported and to share stories with others”.

Those taking part in the relaxed, informal group will be able to:

  • share coping strategies
  • enjoy games/activities suggested by members
  • build friendships
  • get involved in advocating change.

The first session, hosted by South Tyneside Council Engagement Officer Casey Devine, is being held on Thursday February 11th from 4pm to 5.30pm via Zoom.
