Are you interested in health and social care services? Do you want to play a key role in providing service user feedback to commissioners and providers?

Healthwatch South Tyneside is currently recruiting for a number of positions on our board as well as our staff team.

We are looking to appoint a new chairman, following the departure of former Chair Peter Bower, as well as additional board roles. Board member Arthur McKean has stepped up as Interim Chair pending the new appointment.

Healthwatch is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to provide strategic leadership at a critical time for the health and social care sector.

Board members prepare for and attend bi-monthly board meetings, driving policy and priorities for the staff team.

Healthwatch’s key role is the engagement of users of local NHS and social care services to hear about experiences, identify any issues or problems and help generate improvements.

It also assists commissioners and providers of healthcare services by conducting patient surveys, visiting healthcare venues and attending meetings with user groups and feeding back our findings in regular reports.

Applicants should either live or work in South Tyneside, and have strategic experience, a good understanding of governance, and extensive knowledge of the health and social care sector, including local services and healthcare needs.

Healthwatch would particularly welcome applicants with specific experience in equality, diversity and inclusion, and data management.

The successful candidate will promote Healthwatch services and work, and raise awareness and enhance our reputation, using a wide range of engagement, marketing and communication techniques.
