Volunteers’ Week 2023 is underway and Healthwatch South Tyneside is again supporting the annual national initiative.

Running until Wednesday June 7, the rallying call promotes and celebrates the important contributions made by millions of people through volunteering in their communities and is supported by organisations and businesses large and small.

Hundreds of events, online and in–person, are taking place to celebrate the work of the nation’s volunteers and to highlight the ways they give their time to help and support others.

Healthwatch South Tyneside is backing Volunteers’ Week 2023, but the good news is we have many and varied opportunities year-round for volunteers to help us in our important activities.

Our volunteers engage with those who access our services, which helps us to determine the best aspects of our work and where improvements may need to be made, with the overall aim to make our interaction with the community more personalised and positive.

Volunteers come from all walks of life, with some being able to spare the occasional hour here and there, while others commit to giving their time more regularly. Whatever your personal circumstances, there could be a role for you.

And while experience in health and social care is not essential, volunteers should be enthusiastic about engaging with others and possess a determination to help us to make positive change.

You can find out more about volunteering with Healthwatch South Tyneside via the ‘Get Involved’ section on our website, and you can also contact us or download and complete the volunteer application form.
