A campaign to help young people with feelings of loneliness has been launched today by the Government.

Called Loneliness: Every Mind Matters, the campaign by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport is aimed at 18 to 24 year olds whose mental health and wellbeing may have been affected negatively by the pandemic.

It offers tips to people who want to help a friend or family member who may be feeling lonely including:

  • Checking in with a family member, friend or neighbour by sending a text or giving them a call to see how they are doing.
  • Reaching out to someone to suggest catching up over a tea or coffee.
  • Inviting someone to join you in getting some fresh air and going for a walk.

In taking one of these actions you could lift someone out of loneliness, and it might help you feel less lonely too.

More advice and support can be found on the Loneliness page on the Every Mind Matters website or searching EveryMindMatters/Loneliness.
